Having worked in television for nearly a decade I’ve collaborated with many of my friends in the industry. It’s especially nice when we can regroup for a special project like this one, where we can pay homage to this beloved, larger than life show.

My friends Amy Segal (Director) and Joe Amio (Editor) brought me onboard to create the graphic elements for this documentary. We all worked together and crossed paths for years at CHUM/CTV/BellMedia but have since moved on to our own pursuits. It was great to work with a crew that felt like family…just like the show : ) No stress, just space and time to craft.

My job was to create the titles, lower thirds, and graphic treatments. Each title/lower third was bespoke. Normally I would create a template for generic l3rds. In this case I wanted them each to be a bit different. I wanted the white bars to mimic redacted type on a script’s page. As the doc is not very action packed, the motion of these graphics helps to add a sense of dynamics without being too overbearing and predictable. The overall approach was clean and minimal, which matched the tone and pace of the show.
